NetCash Release Notes 9/21/26
Overview
Cumulative customer-facing NetCash release notes from 2026.1.56 through the 2026.2.03 release, covering rounding entries for cash application, a rollforward Reconciliation Detail report with a formatted Excel export, a Match History export report, and a bulk role permissions tool.
Highlights
- Rounding entries for cash application - cash application can now close an invoice or bill that is short by a fee. NetCash posts the difference to a specified GL account instead of treating it as a discount. See NetCash Automated Cash Application.
- Updated Reconciliation Detail report - the report has been updated, and you can run it as of a period end or as of today.
- Formatted export - the Reconciliation Detail report has a new formatted export option.
- Match History Export report - a new report lists recent matches, with a row for each bank line and each matched GL line.
- Bulk Custom Role Permissions Import tool - set NetCash access across your custom roles from one grid.
What's New
Cash application and matching
- Cash Application automation rules have two new settings for the difference between the bank amount and the invoice or bill amount. "Variance (Bank < GL) Handling" offers Create Rounding Entry, Apply Discount, Book Difference Journal, Leave Open, and Do Not Match. "Variance (Bank > GL) Handling" offers Create Rounding Entry, Book Difference Journal, and Do Not Match.
- With Create Rounding Entry, NetCash creates a payment for the bank amount and a journal entry that posts the difference to your rounding account, then applies both to the invoice or bill. The invoice or bill closes in full, and the fee lands in the account you choose.
- The rounding account comes from the Rounding Account line on the rule's transaction template. If the rule doesn't set one, NetCash uses the Rounding GL Account on the bank account.
- If your account requires approval for journal entries, rounding journal entries must be approved automatically. A journal entry waiting for approval can't be applied to the payment, and the match fails.
- Existing rules keep their current behavior. Rules that booked a rounding entry under the old setting now show Book Difference Journal. New rules default to Leave Open when the bank amount is lower and Do Not Match when it's higher.
- Create Rounding Entry is also available when you match manually or from Match Assist. The Rounding GL Account fills in from the bank account setup.
- Match History marks these matches with a Rounding Entry badge. When an unmatch deletes or voids the transactions NetCash created, it removes the rounding journal entry the same way.
Reporting and dashboards
- The Reconciliation Detail report now lists every GL line dated in the period, matched or not, laid out as a rollforward. It runs from the beginning balance through matched inflows and outflows, unmatched activity for the period, and total period activity, to the ending balance, statement balance, and difference. Items that didn't match this period appear right away as open items, such as deposits in transit and outstanding checks.
- A new toggle on Reconciliation Detail switches between As of Period End and As of Today. As of Period End is the default. It counts a match only when the bank activity is dated on or before the end of the period, so an item that cleared after period end still shows as outstanding. As of Today counts every match made as of the moment you view the report.
- Export as Excel (Formatted) is a new download option on the Reconciliation Detail report and on the report view of a reconciliation record. It produces a styled workbook with a title block, a frozen header row, and grouped rows you can expand and collapse.
- The new NetCash Match History Export report, in the NetCash Reports list, gives one row per bank line and one per matched GL line. Bank rows include the bank description, alternate description, merchant, and category. GL rows include the GL memo. Every row shows the match type, rule, reason, and who created the match. The report covers matches created in the last 90 days, and you can export it to Excel or CSV.
Go-live
- On Go-Live > Cutover Items, the Uncleared in NetSuite toggle narrows the GL list to lines not yet cleared in NetSuite. Those are the outstanding checks and deposits in transit that become cutover items. It replaces the Cleared in Match Bank Data toggle, which showed the opposite set. The toggle is off by default and works on both the New Items and Created Items tabs.
- Cleared status reflects today, not the cutover date. A check dated before cutover that cleared afterward is hidden when the toggle is on, so treat the filtered list as a starting point.
Platform and settings
- The Bulk Custom Role Permissions Import link on the NetCash System Setup page's Import Tools tab now opens a new tool. It shows your custom roles as columns and NetCash record types as rows, and you set None, View, Create, Edit, or Full in each cell. You can also apply one of four built-in permission sets to a role: NetCash View Only, NetCash Cash Staff Accountant, NetCash Cash Manager, or NetCash Cash Administrator. Roles whose names start with a Netgain product name, such as NetCash or NetClose, don't appear in the grid.
- You can export the permissions grid to Excel, edit it offline, and import it back. Nothing changes in NetSuite until you save. The tool updates existing custom roles and doesn't create new ones. If NetSuite won't accept a change to a locked role, the tool tells you and suggests making an editable copy.
Improvements
- Match History search finds an amount however you type it. A search for 50, 50.0, or 50.00 finds $50.00. Search also checks each match's bank total and GL total.
- For foreign-currency bank accounts, the subsidiary-currency GL balances saved on a reconciliation now include FX revaluation entries.
- Amount labels on the merchant history chart, which you open from the Spending report, no longer overlap.
