NetAsset - Multi-Book Disposal Reversals

Overview

Reversing a disposal in a multi-book environment within NetAsset requires special handling. If you select the Reverse Disposal button, only the most recent book’s disposal will be reversed.

To fully reverse the disposal across both primary and secondary books, follow the detailed steps below.


Key Assumptions

  • Multi-book accounting is enabled for the client.
  • Both the primary and secondary books have disposals that need reversal.

Prerequisites

  • Ensure the user has the correct permissions to access asset records and reverse disposals.
  • Verify that disposal schedules are generated for both books.

Step-by-Step Process

1. Reverse Disposal in the Primary Book:

  1. Navigate to the asset record of the disposed asset.
  2. Select the Disposal subtab.
  3. Click the disposal record ID for the disposal to be reversed.
  4. On the NetAsset Disposal Proposal, select Reverse Disposal.
  5. The disposal will be reversed in the primary book, and the schedule will regenerate automatically.

2. Reverse Disposal in the Secondary Book:

  1. Navigate back to the Disposal subtab.
  2. Select the second disposal proposal record ID.
  3. Confirm that the status of the first book disposal record shows Reversed.
  4. On the NetAsset Disposal Proposal, select Reverse Disposal.
  5. The disposal will now be reversed in the secondary book, and the schedule will regenerate.

Limitations/Things to Be Aware Of

  • Confirm that the status for each book's disposal proposal shows Reversed to ensure successful reversal.
  • Skipping the second book disposal reversal may lead to data inconsistencies.

Troubleshooting

  • Issue:Disposal reversal only occurs in one book.
    • Solution: Verify that both disposal record IDs were selected and manually reversed.
