Cross-Validation Rules Release Notes 07/07/26
Overview
Cross-Validation Rules version 2026.1.40. Prevent-mode rules now keep the values you entered when a save is blocked, and enforce on Purchase Orders and Sales Orders. A new exceptions report collects Detect-mode violations with links to each transaction, an ignore/reopen workflow, filters, and export to Excel.
Highlights
- Keep your work when a rule blocks a save - when a Prevent-mode rule catches a policy violation, your entered values stay on the transaction. Fix the flagged field and save, without rebuilding it from scratch. On by default; no setup required.
- Rules now enforce on Purchase Orders and Sales Orders - Prevent-mode rules evaluate on POs and SOs, alongside the transaction types already supported.
- Work violations from a dedicated exceptions report - violations are collected in a report with links straight to each transaction, an ignore/reopen workflow, filters, and export to Excel. See Cross-Validation Rules Reports.
What's New
Rule enforcement (Prevent mode)
- Your work is retained on a blocked save. Previously, when a Prevent rule stopped a save, the transaction was discarded and you re-entered everything. Now the values you typed stay on the screen so you can correct the flagged field and save. It runs automatically on your existing Prevent rules. An administrator can switch back to server-only checking with the new "Disable Client-Side Cross-Validation" setting.
- Purchase Order and Sales Order support. Prevent-mode rules now evaluate on Purchase Orders and Sales Orders.
- Cash Sale and Credit Memo support. Rules now evaluate on Cash Sales and Credit Memos.
Violation reporting (Detect mode)
- Flag violations without blocking. Detect-mode rules record a policy violation and now show a warning on the transaction after save.
- Outstanding exceptions report. Review flagged violations in one place, each linked directly to the transaction that tripped the rule. See Cross-Validation Rules Reports.
- Ignore and reopen. Mark an exception as ignored (tracked with who ignored it and when) or reopen it later; filter the report to hide ignored items.
- Filters and columns. Filter by user, transaction number, date created, and transaction date; resize the error column; the report remembers your view between visits.
- Export to Excel. Export the exceptions list, with long error messages handled cleanly in the export.
- In-app help. Jump to the Cross-Validation Rules knowledge base article from the report page.
Improvements
- Runs at higher volume. Rule evaluation uses less NetSuite governance, and high-volume violation reporting now runs as a background process, so validation holds up on large transactions and busy accounts.
- Readable violation messages. Field labels and condition names appear in plain language across both Prevent and Detect messages.
- Clearer licensing message. Users without an active Cross-Validation Rules license now see a clear message instead of a broken or empty screen.
