NetClose - Updating Task Templates from the Popup
Overview
In NetClose, changes made to NetClose Task Templates will be reflected in future periods when the corresponding task is generated. These changes can be applied directly to the NetClose Task Template record or through the Task Popup in the Task List or Task Board.
By default, updates made in the task popup window will apply only to the current task period. To apply changes to future periods as well, the Update Template button should be used. This action will update the task template, ensuring that the changes are reflected in both the current and future periods.
NetClose also provides the functionality to update templates in bulk for tasks and to create templates for tasks that do not have one, directly from the popup screen.
The walkthrough below provides a detailed explanation of these processes.

Prerequisites
- In NetClose > Setup > System Setup, under the System Features subtab, ensure the global setting "Update Templates from Task App" is enabled. This feature allows users to update templates directly within the NetClose app, eliminating the need to access the NetClose Task Template record for modifications:
Updating Single Task Templates
In NetClose, individual Task Templates can be updated directly from the Task Popup screen.
Step-by-Step Process
- Navigate to NetClose > Tasks > Task List, then click on the task that requires updating.
- In the resulting popup, update fields such as Assignee, Reviewer, Importance, Description, and others as needed.
The due date can be modified to update a NetClose Task Template. When changed, NetClose will check the task template to determine whether it uses absolute due dates or relative due dates:
- If the template uses absolute due dates, NetClose updates it with the new absolute due date.
- If the template uses relative due dates, NetClose adjusts it based on the relative timing of the updated due date.
- After making all necessary updates, select Update Template to apply the changes:
- The updates will be applied to the NetClose Task Template record and will be reflected in future periods.
Note that if a specific task record is updated without selecting Update Template, the changes will apply only to that period and will not carry over to future periods.
Generating Task Templates
If a task created for a specific period does not already have a template and should be repeated in the future, a template can also be created directly from the Task Popup screen.
Step-by-Step Process
- Navigate to NetClose > Tasks > Task List, then click on the task for which a task template needs to be generated.
- In the popup that appears, update fields such as Reviewer, Importance, Risk Level, Estimate (Hours), and others as needed.
When generating a template for a task that does not have one, NetClose will use the task's due date to set an absolute due date on the new task template.
- After making all necessary updates, click Create Template to generate a reusable template for the task for future periods:
Mass Updating Task Templates
NetClose enables users to mass update both task records and templates. Multiple tasks can be selected simultaneously, allowing users to modify specific values either for the task record (applying changes only to the selected period) or for the template (ensuring updates carry forward to future periods).
Step-by-Step Process
- Go to NetClose > Tasks > Task List, then check the box next to any tasks that need updating:
- Click the Mass Update button in the top-left corner of the screen:
Mass updates can only modify templates for tasks that already have them. New templates cannot be created through a mass update.
- In the pop-up window, update the Status, Task Type, Classification, Assignee, and Reviewer as needed.
- There are two options to process the updates:
- Save: Applies the updates only to the current period for the tasks selected in the mass update.
- Save and Update Templates: Applies the updates to the current period and updates the templates, ensuring the changes are reflected in future periods.
