NetCash Importing statement balances from a CSV

Overview

If you reconcile many bank accounts each period, typing every statement ending balance on the Reconcile page takes a while. NetCash can import the balances from a CSV file instead. It creates or updates one reconciliation for each account and statement date in the file, so you can set up a whole month-end in one upload.

The import is on the same page as the bank transaction CSV import (NetCash > Setup > Import Bank Activity). Select the Statement Balances tab to import balances.

Prerequisites

  • The bank accounts are already set up in NetCash.
  • The user's role has at least View on the NetCash Bank Account and NetCash Bank Transaction records and Create and Edit on the NetCash Reconciliation record. See NetCash Roles and Permissions.

CSV format

The file needs three columns. NetCash auto-maps columns with common header names (for example Account, Bank Account, Date, Statement Date, Ending Date, Statement Balance), and you can change the mapping on the page.

ColumnRequiredDescription
AccountYesThe NetCash bank account name or internal ID as per the bank account record. To access the full bank account records including internal IDs, search Page: NetCash Bank Account in your global search and reference this list. Bank accounts that share one GL account (for example, a corporate card and its employee cards) are reconciled together. For those, use the GL account name for the group with the combined statement balance.
DateYesThe statement ending date. It must match the Date Format you select on the page.
Statement BalanceYesThe ending balance from the bank statement.

  4. Upload the CSV file by dragging it onto the page or browsing for it.
  5. Confirm the Account, Date, and Statement Balance columns are mapped.

Troubleshooting

Message or symptomWhat to check

Account is reconciled together with other accountsThe account belongs to a group that shares one GL account. Use the GL account name with the combined balance.
Invalid dateThe date does not match the Date Format you selected, or it does not exist (for example, February 31).
Invalid statement balanceThe balance is not a number.
Already complete with a different balanceReopen the reconciliation, then import again.

Lines with errors do not stop the other lines in the file from importing. Statement balance imports also appear on the Bank Imports Report with the import type Statement Balances.
