NetAsset - High Volume Client Reporting
High volumes of assets can cause scripted reports to time out and fail. There are a couple different options for getting reports out of NetAsset when you start to hit this limit.
Register Reports
The Register reports in NetAsset (Asset Register, Asset Register Roll Forward, Tax Register) are query based reports, and as such hit any volume limitations slower. If you are having issues with the legacy roll forward report, try using the register report options first.
Export Reports Directly
If the Register report do not work for you either, then you will not be able to view the reporting directly inside of NetAsset and will need to export the reports in order to view.
Export from Viewing the Report
Out of the box, when your account has over 10,000 active assets, NetAsset will stop you from viewing scripted reports live in NetAsset and require you to export them to view. This can be a helpful way to get to the export page quickly though.
- Navigate to the Report page and click Run for the desired report.
- You will see the following error and page when you try to view a report and your assets are over the set limit.
- To export the report immediately, input the desired filters and then click Export.
- Clicking Schedule will create a recurring export schedule for this report. See NetAsset - Scheduled Reporting for more details on that feature.
- The report will save as a downloadable file on the Asset Report Record under Files >Attached Files.
Changing the Limit
Some clients want to wait for the report to load or have low useful lives for their assets, so they want the report to generate even when asset volumes are above 10k. Other clients may want to set the limit lower because they dont want to wait or remember to access the page through the Report Record itself. In either scenario, you can change the limit via the Deployment Record for the NetAsset - Report SL script.
- Navigate to Customization > Scripting > Script Deployments
- Enter NetAsset - Report SL in the Script filter. Click Edit next to the line that appears.
- Go to the Parameters subtab and enter the desired limit override in the Asset Count Threshold box. Click Save.
Export from Report Record
Export your report directly from the NetAsset Report record itself.
- Navigate to the Report page and click View for the desired report.
- Click Schedule Report.
- For Register reports, you will be brought to the following page. Fill out the filters as desired and click Schedule Export.
Scripted Reports
You will be brought to the same page in the Export from Viewing the Report section above for any scripted reports. The flow is the same as in that section.
- The report will be saved as a downloadable CSV file on the Asset Report record.
