NetClose - Top-Side Adjustments

Overview

In accounting, top‑side adjustments are manual journal entries used to adjust financial results during the close process. These entries are typically created outside of standard transactional workflows and applied directly to the general ledger.

Within NetClose, even after transactions are locked, users with the appropriate permissions can create top‑side adjusting entries as needed.

Common Scenarios

  • Timing differences between when activity occurs and when it is recorded
  • Adjustments identified during close or consolidation
  • Allocations or reclassifications that fall outside normal posting processes
  • Reporting or compliance-driven adjustments

Because top‑side adjustments directly affect financial results, they are generally subject to review and approval controls and are intended to supplement—not replace—accurate transactional reporting.

Step-By-Step Process

  1. Navigate to NetClose > Close Management > Top-Side Adjustments.
  2. Select New NetClose Top-Side Adjustment and populate the applicable fields.

 3. Select Save.
