NetLoan - Business Day Calendar Configuration
Configure Business Day Calendars
NetLoan enables users to set up multiple business day calendars which allow for holidays to be accounted for within NetLoan. Multiple business day calendars are useful for companies with foreign entities in which the holidays vary by country.
Business day calendars work with the "business day convention" field on the loan record. If "following" or "mod-following" are selected in the "business day convention" field, loan payment journal entries will not post on weekends or holidays. Rather, the loan payment entry and an accrued interest entry will book on a business day (as designated by the "business day convention" field).
STEP-BY-STEP PROCESS
- Navigate to the business day calendar setup page by accessing NetLoan > NetLoan Setup > Manage Business Days
- Select the New NetLoan Business Day Calendar button to bring up the business day calendar setup page.
- Complete the form by listing the dates of holidays for the full loan term of the loan type to which the calendar will be associated.
- When you have completed all the needed dates don't forget to click the Save button.
- Once the calendar has been created, it can be associated with a NetLoan Loan Type. See the article Loan Type Configuration for more information on creating Loan Types.
CSV UPLOAD STEP-BY-STEP PROCESS
Use Case: Netgain has developed basic .csv upload templates that can be used to upload calendar details in batch. These steps can be followed to update information on an existing calendar or as a starting point to create a new calendar. This can be especially helpful when there is a high volume of calendars and holidays needing update or loading.
- Open the NetLoan Upload Template (Excel) found below and fill out the "Work Calendar" and "Holidays" tabs prior to attempting to upload. Ensure the holiday dates for the full loan term are included therein.
- When finished, update the Excel file, save it in a known location as a .csv file.
- Navigate to the Import Assistant by accessing Setup > Import/Export > Import CSV Records.
- With the Import Assistant open, update the Import Type to Custom Records and the Record Type drop-down to NetLoan Business Day Calendar. Under the CSV files section, click on the Select button and upload the .csv file you saved for the work calendar tab.
- Select Next to progress to the Step 2 import options
- Within the Import Options section, make sure Add is selected and under Advanced Options make sure to turn on “Run Server SuiteScript and Trigger Workflows”
- After progressing through the upload you will be prompted for Field Mapping. Note that NetSuite tries to directly map all the fields it can recognize. When fields are not recognized, they must be manually matched between the .csv upload file and NetSuite fields. Ensure that the Name field is properly mapped.
- On the final step, be sure to provide an Import Map Name prior to clicking Save & Run so the field mapping can be used again on a subsequent import.
- If the fields are mapped correctly and the field contents are formatted the same way the field values are in NetSuite, the upload will show complete and the calendars will be available to view in NetSuite.
- In the event of a failed upload, review the logs for the specific reasons for the failed load and repeat the steps above.
- Next, the holidays will need to be added to the business calendar. Repeat the steps above, using the Import Type > Custom Records and the Record Type > NetLoan Holiday. Under the CSV files section, click on the Select button and upload the .csv file you saved for the holidays tab.
- Once the calendar has been created, it can be associated with a NetLoan Loan Type. See the article Loan Type Configuration for more information on creating Loan Types.
