NetLoan — Enable Duplicate Schedule Line Detection

Overview

The Transaction Schedule Duplicate Check is a safeguard setting in NetLoan Global Settings that prevents the journal processing job from posting journal entries against loans with duplicate schedule lines. When enabled, the system checks for duplicate schedule lines at the start of every Run Journals job and, if duplicates are found, halts processing for those loans and flags them with an error instead of creating potentially incorrect journal entries. This is a one-time setup and should remain enabled for the life of the environment.

Benefits

Enabling the Transaction Schedule Duplicate Check provides the following protections:

  • Prevents incorrect journal entries — Without this check, the journal processing job will attempt to post against all schedule lines it finds, including duplicates. This can result in overstated income, interest, or fee amounts on the loan.
  • Prevents duplicate journal entries — Duplicate schedule lines can cause the same period’s entries to be posted more than once, leading to GL discrepancies that are difficult to trace and correct.
  • Early error visibility — Rather than silently posting bad data, the system surfaces the problem immediately by flagging the loan with an Error status and stamping the Script Execution Log, making it easy to identify and resolve affected loans before they compound.
  • Safe for automated processing — In environments where Run Journals runs on an automated overnight schedule, this setting ensures that a loan with duplicate schedule lines is skipped cleanly rather than creating a data integrity issue that requires manual GL correction.

Prerequisites

  • NetLoan Administrator role or equivalent access to modify the Global Settings.
  • This is a one-time configuration; no prior setup steps are required.
